Wenger’s tacit admission that his team isn’t good enough

It seems that even Arsene Wenger has conceded that the Premier League title is beyond his young team this season.  Or at least, if they stand any chance it will be due to a spectacular double collapse of the two teams who have so comprehensively beaten them this week.

In his post-match interview with the BBC, Wenger talked up his side’s possession and how youthful their are.  Sadly, the possession statistics back up the assertion that they are no longer a force against their supposed peers; Manchester United and Chelsea were both more than content to let them have the ball, knowing that they create very little and in response, cannot handle power and creativity.

Wenger knows this too.  The evidence was written large in their last two games and 2 minutes 16 seconds into the interview, a knowing, shrug is his admission there is little more that this set of players can do against the best in the league:
