Portsmouth (20th) play Arsenal (3rd) at Fratton Park, 30 December 2009, 8pm.

Arsenal, the form team in the league take on Portsmouth who play well and get nothing for it. Their season is on a knife edge between getting what their decent play and reasonable squad merit, and falling into a second half malaise that will see them relegated. Matches like this will dictate which way that ends up.

Arsenal are the most consistent of the Champions League teams however without Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas, winning the Premier League will be tough (but not impossible).

Arsenal should win this but a cold, wet evening at Fratton Park suggests that it will be tough although their record against Portsmouth is superb.

A hard one to call and without Jamie O’Hara (suspended) it is questionable whether Portsmouth have the bite in midfield to upset Arsenal.

Best bet - none

First scorer - Abu Diaby

Prediction:

Portsmouth 0 – 3 Arsenal
