Resuming on 268-4, England rolled back the years with a swift collapse to 298 all out after the morning session was lost to rain.

The English bowlers then showed the sort of concentration their batter failed to do by restricting India to 145-4 by the close. James Anderson using the swinging conditions well to capture 2-26 from 15 overs.

India will resume with Sourav Gangly (25*) and RP Singh (5*) at the crease.

Lords in the morning

The performance of the day was undoubtedly the MCC ground staff who made a flooded, sodden Lords playable in remarkably quick time after and India-like monsoon had wiped out the morning session.
